Choose the EIU Online Catalog to find books in the library, and in the search box, type in keywords describing what you'd like to find. You'll find the best results using simple words or phrases, such as the keywords "Quebecois culture" (screenshot below) to locate materials on the culture of Quebec. Click on each title to find more information about the item. The catalog will find information on videos, e-books, government publications, and more.
Use EIU's Online Catalog to find books we own in this building. You can also use the catalog to find materials held in the 85+ other academic libraries in Illinois by broadening your search to "All I-Share Libraries." Books requested from “All I-Share Libraries” will be delivered to Booth Library and will be available for pick-up at the circulation desk.
The library collection has French-language materials, including fiction and non-fiction books as well as journals, documentaries, movies, and CDs.
When using the online library catalog, French-language materials can be found by using the "Narrow Search" function on the right-hand side of the results screen. The number in the highlighted boxes below show how many items are in different languages. The “Narrow Search” function also will limit the search results by “Resource Type” such as books.
Combining the two “Narrow Search” functions using “resource type” and “language” will provide a results list of French-language CDs or French-language DVDs. This example search result is a list of DVD and streaming media in French. Follow this link and add keywords to narrow the search to a topic of your choice.
