How to use the EIU library catalog to find information

Use I-Share to search for and request books, videos, and more

Can’t find what you want in the Booth Library catalog?

To locate materials beyond Booth Library's collection, extend your search to the I-Share catalog by using the drop-down menu to the left of the search box. Select All I-Share Libraries.

After locating your desired material (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.) in the I-Share catalog, use the “I-Share” link under How to get it to place your request. (You must be signed in to see this option. See image below.) A request form will be generated. Confirm the details and send the request.

Note that you can change the preferred pickup institution to any of the I-Share member libraries. The default preferred pickup institution is EIU Booth Library.

Track the status of your requests in your account.

You will receive an email when your requested material is available at the Booth Library Circulation Desk.

Materials generally circulate for 4 weeks, with the option to renew twice. Some items have a shorter circulation period. Renew items within your account under "My Loans" or call Booth Library Circulation Services for assistance, (217) 581-6071.

Away from EIU?

Have materials delivered to an I-Share library nearest you. (See image below.)

You may also return Booth Library and other I-Share materials to your local I-Share library, and they will get routed back to the owning library, free of charge.

I-Share vans deliver content around the state 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, except for announced holidays. Requested material generally arrives in 2-3 working days.

It’s free

There’s no cost to you for using I-Share. (Items must be returned by their due date or you will be charged standard overdue fees.) I-Share is a free service for current EIU students and employees.

Still not finding what you want?

WorldCat is a world-wide library catalog. To request an item, select Borrow this item from another library. Items requested through WorldCat take 7-14 days to arrive. WorldCat is a free service for current EIU students and employees.
