Mental Measurements Yearbook, a guide to its use: Home

What is the Mental Measurements Yearbook?

The Mental Measurements Yearbook, or MMY, is a resource which provide descriptive and evaluative reviews of over 3500 test instruments. The tests reviewed in the MMY are all in the English language and commercially available (although tests reviewed in older volumes may be out of print).  Booth Library owns all MMY volumes going back to 1938.  The newest Mental Measurements Yearbook, the 20th, was published in 2017.

Print volumes containing test reviews are available in the West Reference Room, 3rd floor of Booth Library, under the call number Ref. Z5814.P8 R93.

Please remember that MMY will not give you access to an actual test; it only reviews the validity and utility of a test. Also, MMY is very selective. They do not review every test.

Finding test reviews in the MMY

You can use the MMY to search for a specific test by name or abbreviation, and you can also use it to find tests by subject.  One thing to remember: the indexes in each print MMY only include tests listed within that book.  The best way to find reviews of a particular test is to do a comprehensive search across all of the MMY volumes so that you'll know which volume your test is in.

To do this, visit Buros Test Reviews Online Index.  This link can also be found in Booth Library's lists of databases for Communication Disorders & Sciences, Family & Consumer Sciences, Psychology, and Education, as well as on the Ballenger Teachers Center page under Education Web Resources - Assessment.
