This guide to Booth Library's and the Ballenger Teachers Center's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) resources is grounded in the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Core SEL Competencies.

Introduction

Self-Management is the ability to successfully regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations — effectively managing stress, controlling impulses, and motivating oneself. The ability to set and work toward personal and academic goals. 

Self-Management is comprised of the following sub-competencies:

  • Goal-setting
  • Organizational skills
