Once you have explored alternative terms for your search, it is time to start searching. Enter your terms in the search boxes. It is a good idea to include your audience in one of the search boxes; for example, elementary school students or middle school students.
Chances are, though, that when you do the search, you will end up with a results lists of many thousand articles.
Thus, the power of the not. You may remember learning about Boolean searching. Putting together two terms with the word And means that both terms must be present for the item to appear in your results list. Putting those same two terms together with the word Or means that your results list will include items with either of the two terms. Not, on the other hand, will take away any items that include the term that is not wanted in the results.
