BTC: Resources for Teachers during COVID-19

This is a guide to resources available to help EIU student teachers, education students, and faculty during the COVID-19 remote learning process.

Many companies are offering limited-time free access to their resources.

  No login or additional software required. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet. Explore the collection, select a title, and start listening. End date unknown.
• Arbordale Publishing

  Arbordale ebooks are multilingual, and read-aloud in up to nine languages, with an additional bilingual feature. Readers needing assistance can use the speed control and word highlighting for help with pronunciation. Free access ends August 31, 2020.
• AudioBookCloud

  Free audiobooks in a variety of genres and age categories, including children's and young adult.
  No login required, just click on the title and listen. Free access ends August 31, 2020.
• Capstone Interactive Books

  Capstone Interactive eBooks provide text highlighting and audio support, for emergent, struggling, reluctant and ELL readers. Over 4,000 titles available including fiction and non-fiction. Spanish language also available.

  Fiction and nonfiction ebooks and other resources for PreK - 12. Once you click on this link, follow the login directions provided by Follett. Free access ends June 30, 2020.
• Junior Library Guild

  JLG Gold Standard eBooks for Elementary, Middle School and High school students. No login required, just click on the book image to begin reading. Free access ends May 31, 2020.
• MackinVIA

  The web site it will prompt you for a User ID and Password. (Leave the School Name blank). Both are case sensitive.

  Once you log in, note the Home navigation panel in the upper left screen. You have access to free, multi-user ebooks for elementary, middle, and high school and other resources. Other than the ebooks options be sure to click on the Databases option to find access to numerous other educational resources such as TeachingBooks and ABDO Zoom. Free access ends September 20, 2020.
• National Emergency Library

  To address the unprecedented global and immediate need for access to reading and research materials, the Internet Archive will suspend waitlists for the 1.4 million (and growing) books in their lending library by creating a National Emergency Library to serve the nation’s displaced learners. During the waitlist suspension, users will be able to borrow books from the National Emergency Library without joining a waitlist, ensuring that students will have access to assigned readings and library materials that the Internet Archive has digitized for the remainder of the US academic calendar, and that people who cannot physically access their local libraries because of closure or self-quarantine can continue to read and thrive during this time of crisis, keeping themselves and others safe. This suspension will run through June 30, 2020, or the end of the US national emergency, whichever is later. You will need to create a free account in order to borrow items.
• Oxford Owl

  A United Kingdom web site that has offered free access to their eBooks collection,which has been developed for children aged 3–11 years old. Access to this site is temporary, end date unknown. Requires you to establish a free account to access the materials.
• ProQuest eBook Central

  ProQuest is providing temporary access to their ebook collection for a limited time. Click on Browse Subjects and you will find Juvenile Literature under the Education collection.
• Scholastic BookFlix

  Pairs fictional video storybooks with related nonfiction eBooks for ages 4 - 10.

• SEBCO

  SEBCO is offering 450 FREE ebooks with no obligation! These are newly released titles which support state curriculum. Free access ends 6/30/2020. Two login screens will appear. The first titled: "Get Started By Logging In;" enter:
