Influential Graphic Novels

Graphic Novels

A Graphic Novel is a book that is composed of comic material.  Graphic novels can include both fiction and non-fiction work.  The first works to identify themselves as graphic novels were that of BloodstarBeyond Time and Again, and Chandler: Red Tide which were produced in 1976.  Graphic novels then found popularity in the 1980's with titles such as Maus, Watchmen, and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Graphic novels now account for more than $650 million dollars in sales.
