Bilingual Material for Children

The Ballenger Teachers Center keeps a booklist of bilingual children's books. These books are almost entirely Spanish-English books, and at the end of the list are a few additional teaching materials in the BTC that may be useful. There are also a few other children's books in other languages--these are found almost entirely in the 400's and consist of various picture dictionaries.

Finding ELL Materials in the Library Catalog

When searching for ELL materials, the first thing you want to do is to think about keywords that would be useful in searching for items. You might choose words or abbreviations like
  • ELL
  • English Language Learners
  • ESL

If you choose the second item in the list, you can then look to see what kinds of words are used in the catalog to describe this item. You can also look at the table of contents for additional information.

Now, you can choose "English language Study and Teaching Foreign speakers" by clicking on the link. You can now see that you retrieve many more relevant items.
